A high-rate battery is primarily designed to deliver strong power pulses over brief durations. In many battery types, such as AGM (Absorbent Glass Mat) and lead-acid, a relationship is observed between the battery's depth of discharge (DOD) and its cycle-life. This cycle-life denotes the count of charge/discharge cycles a battery can endure during its lifespan and is contingent on its allowed DOD. AGM High Rate Battery with limited discharges (around 50%) will have a greater cycle-life compared to those that are regularly discharged to their maximum limit (over 80% DOD). On average, an AGM High Rate Battery provides 200-300 charge/discharge cycles, with variations based on operating temperature and DOD. However, AGM High Rate Battery can perform up to 400 charge/discharge cycles at an operating temperature of 68-77 degrees Fahrenheit at 50% DOD with a 14-16 year life.
